Land Rover Series One Club
Organised by Richard Ravencroft
Situated near the Lake
The Land Rover Series One Club was formed in 1979 by three enthusiasts who saw that there was a need for some sort of organisation to cater for those interested in early Land Rovers. The club now has over 2000 members worldwide, and aims to provide a means of communication between members and to help with the sourcing of spare parts. The club undertakes research into historical information relevant to vehicle restoration. Most of these aims are accomplished through articles published in the club magazine known as “Legend” and through the website.
In addition, the Club has a network of area representatives who may be contacted by members to meet up with others in their area. For more detailed information relating to early Land Rovers, the Club have also appointed Technical Officers who specialise in particular models. Lately the club has undertaken to have certain parts remanufactured because they have become difficult or expensive to acquire.
The Club has also published a book specifically written for the Series One Land Rover enthusiast by its Technical Officer, John Smith, which is the definitive volume covering the first 20 years of Land Rover development. “Land Rover - The Formative Years” is also available from the Club.
