Chatsworth Country Fair 2009

Children & 'Have a Go'

At present this list is base on 2008, but gives a good indication of the range of activities which we expect in 2009.

 

Air Field Target - (east of road behind Trade Stand Row A)
Organised by BASC affiliated club - Codnor Field & Target Club. Times of start & finish: 0930 - 1600.

Field Target Shoot: 40 Shot Course (main shoot). Entry Fee £4. Trophies to 3rd place: open to all, own gun required.

HAVE-A-GO: The have-a go target shoot is open to all, guns supplied, tuition if required - 5 shots £2.

Air Rifle Range - (east of road behind Trade Stand Row A)
Organised by the Countryside Alliance - Derbyshire Branch. Entry Fee: £1 for 10 shots (all ages). Times of start & finish: 0900 - 1630. Trophies awarded each day for highest male score, female score and junior score (under 14).

Archery - (on the Cricket Field) ... details
Organised by Derwent Bowmen Archery Club. Open Have-a-go and Archery Tournament on the Cricket Field, north west of the Showground.

Catapult Range - (east of road behind Trade Stand Row A)
Organised by: The Countryside Alliance, Derbyshire Branch, in association with the Lincoln & District Catapult School. Free tuition and advice given by Keith Prince.
Saturday: The Countryside Alliance Chatsworth Catapult Championship. Entry Fee: £1 for 7 shots (all ages). Times of start & finish: 0900 - 1630. Gold & Silver certificates awarded for the two highest scores.
Sunday: The Countryside Alliance British Championship Silver Cup for the outright winner. Time of start: 0900 - shoot off 1600. Gold, Silver & Bronze certificates awarded for the three highest scores.

Children's Entertainment - Fairground - including the famous vintage Helter Skelter, Chair-o-plane rides and much more.

Children's Entertainment - Mr Brocklehurst's Land Train - offering rides around part of the Showground.

Crossbow Range - (East of road behind Trade Stand Row A). Come and have-a-go and enjoy yourself. Times of start & finish: 0900 - 1730.

Dog & Gun Competitions - (adjacent to the Clay Pigeon Shooting). Competitive and fun events to test your ability with dog & gun. If you haven't got a Dog there's even a competition for you. Win a day's shooting on the Dawnay Estates in Yorkshire! For details click here

Ferret Show & Racing - 22 Ferret Show classes. Racing from 1130, showing at 1300 followed by more racing.

Fly Casting Competitions & Demonstrations - organised by Salmon & Trout Association with demonstrations by Charles Jardine. Fly casting instruction, fly tying demonstrations, "Catch it & Cook it" with Charles Jardine and Competitions.

Gundog Pick Up Competitions - Open to any recognised breed of gundog the competition represents the "pick-up" after a drive. Open & Novice events. Cost: £2. Start: 0930, last entries 1630.

Gundog Scurry Competitions - Although ideally for Gundogs, if you have an obedient dog of any breed that you can persuade to pick up two canvas dummies, then come & have a go. Open, Novice and Junior events, £2 per run. Start 0900, finish around 1700.

Laser Sporting Shoot - (east of the road behind Trade Stand Row A)

This is one of the most testing layouts with 5 different positions to shoot. Expert professional tuition given throughout the day. If you have never tried clay pigeon shooting and fancy "a go", this is the man and the place to start for unbiased, patient help. No kick, no deafening bang, but with the same excitement still there. Up to 10 people may shoot at the same time.

Muzzle Loaders - (Clay Pigeon area). Organised by Sheffield Muzzle Loaders. You are invited to shoot a variety of reproduction and original 12 bore and large bore muzzle loading shotguns dating from 1780 to 1980 at an easy clay with one-to-one tuition; loading techniques are readily demonstrated. Have-a-go: open all day 0930 - 1730. Entry Fee: 2 shots for £1 with choice of percussion or flintlock guns at an "easy" clay pigeon.

Target Golf - (east of the road behind Trade Stand Row A). Have-a-go, Entry Fee: £1 for 5 balls. Hole in One prize draw, ladies & gents high score prizes.
